What are You Doing Now?

I am currently a freshmen at Miss Porters School in Farmington, Connecticut. I’m a setter on varsity volleyball and an outfielder for varsity softball.

Years Danced at SDD:

5 Years

What is the most valuable lesson you learned at SDD?

The most valuable lesson I learned during my time at SDD was to always enjoy the journey and the people you meet along the way. Many people I met during my SDD I still talk to and hold very dear to my heart. My SDD experience was a journey. I learned about myself and the people I encountered too.

Advice You’d Give Current Dancers:

Advice I would give dancers today is to never let anything hold you back. Always be your authentic self. Try not to worry about what others have to say. Be the best version of yourself even if it means doing something out of your comfort zone. Most importantly, HAVE FUN. You should always enjoy what you are doing and continue to be happy while you do it.

Favorite SDD Moment:

My favorite SDD memory was as a five year old spending late Wednesday nights at the studio with the team. I was always so happy to spend time and learn from everyone. We became a family, one I wanted to spend every lasting minute with them.

What’s next, and how can we keep up with your success?

In the future I hope to graduate high school at Miss Porters School and hopefully study medicine in college. I want to leave a lasting impact on the world through helping others. To keep up with my success you can find me on any social media account @shannen_giselle. It is easiest to access me on Instagram.
